Thomas Thijs swam his last race this weekend, at the Rotterdam Qualification Meet. Indeed, he decided - after a fine career spanning more than 10 years - to bid farewell to top-level sport.

Our freestyle swimmer Thomas Thijs participated at 1 World Championship long course, 2 World Championships short course and 2 European Championships long course! Reached 2 finals on World Championships and 1 final on European Championships! He was part of our national relay team and gave everything for his country every time! A big thank you for all your efforts for the Royal Belgian Swimming Federation! We wish you all the best in a new chapter with lots of challenges and opportunities again! See you ! #thanksThomas
