Adjustment of ages criteria EYC swimming 2023

The RBSF secretariat was officially informed on 13 March 2023 of an important change in the entry conditions for participation in the 2023 European Junior Championships in Belgrade and subsequent editions...

- Girls up to 18 years (year of birth 2005) and boys from 14 years (year of birth 2009) can participate in the EYC. This rule change will be implemented immediately, so is applicable for the 2023 EYC.
- The philosophy of setting limit times (Best 14th time during the series for each Olympic distance and Best 8th time during the series for non-Olympic distances) will be retained for future editions (from the calendar year 2024 onwards)
- For the 2023 edition, the following arrangement has been worked out because, due to late information, the girls with birth year 2005 and boys with birth year 2009 have only one race to still qualify.
o RBSF retains once for 2023, the limit times already proposed and approved for the 2023 EYC.

This means that girls born 2005 and boys born 2009 who realise the limit time for the EYC during the Belgian Open Championships or have realised it according to the predetermined procedure during previous 50m pool competitions will be eligible for selection for the 2023 EYC in Belgrade.

See attached a modified Minima table (ages only added).
