Belgian water polo players advance to the semi-finals!
In the heart of Rio Maior, under a sultry Portuguese afternoon sun, a miracle took place. The Belgian Red Sharks, our proud water polo warriors, faced Moldova, an opponent that on paper was stronger, faster, and relentless. Analysts gave us no chance: 10 to 3. The numbers were telling, but numbers have no heart, no fire, and no team spirit.
The match started tensely.
Every pass was a prayer, every jump a battle against gravity and doubt. The first two periods ended in a draw: 2–2, 2–2. The Moldovans smelled blood, but in the third quarter the Belgians took a narrow lead: 2–3. The Belgian supporters held their breath. Some couldn't watch anymore, while others screamed their lungs out.
The Belgian goalkeeper saved an important shot that broke the Moldovans. The crowd exploded and gave the boys courage. Adrenaline rushed through the pool. The Red Sharks felt it: this was their moment. With an unprecedented strength, a collective will that cannot be trained or bought. They fought for every ball against the Moldovans' tough physical play.
And then the final whistle.
Tears. Hugs. Flags waving like sails in a storm of emotions. The Red Sharks had done the impossible. They are in the semi-finals of the European Junior Championship, not thanks to luck, but thanks to character and teamwork. Thanks to a team that fought as one, with one soul.
