Performances by our Belgian swimmers at the 2026 World Cup Silk Tour
The Belgian swimmers have rounded off the 2026 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Central Asia with strong performances. After three consecutive weekends in Baku (Azerbaijan), Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and Astana (Kazakhstan), Roos Vanotterdijk and Lucas Henveaux both feature on the podium in the overall standings.
Roos Vanotterdijk finished third in the women’s overall standings with 163.7 points. She thus confirmed her place amongst the world’s best, with strong performances in her butterfly events. In Astana, she also claimed the Triple Crown in both the 50-metre and 100-metre butterfly: victory in those distances during all three World Cup rounds.
Lucas Henveaux also made it onto the final podium. With 164.1 points, he secured third place in the men’s overall standings. The Belgian long-distance swimmer impressed with victories in the 800-metre freestyle in Tashkent and Astana. His third consecutive victory over that distance in Astana was also accompanied by a new Belgian record of 7:30.76.
Florine Gaspard also made her mark during the three rounds. She won the 50-metre breaststroke in Baku and claimed two bronze medals in Tashkent, in the 50- and 100-metre breaststroke events. In doing so, she underlined her strong form on the international stage.
The Silk Road Tour thus produced some fine Belgian performances over the course of three weeks, with two compatriots finishing in the top three of the overall standings. A particularly impressive affirmation of Belgium’s top swimmers at the highest international level!
