Red Sharks qualified for the quarter-finals at the EJC water polo tournament
The Belgian national U18 water polo team, the Red Sharks, achieved a historic victory today by defeating Great Britain 12-14. But if you only look at the score, you miss the true story of this match.
This was no ordinary match. It was a demonstration of collective strength, team spirit and strategic mastermind. Every player got their chance in the water and every player seized that chance with both hands. The rotation was wide, the commitment was deep and the trust in each other was noticeable right up to the edge of the pool. And that pool edge can be taken literally, with a delegation of Belgian supporters cheering the boys on loudly. Even the Lithuanian national team was supporting Belgium.
Our offensive players demonstrated sharpness and focus, with impressive efficiency in capitalising on their opportunities. A completion rate of no less than 100%! Our goalkeepers captured the hearts of the audience with spectacular saves and strong reflexes, keeping their team's spine straight.
This victory is more than just a ticket to the quarter-finals. It is proof that talent, preparation and team spirit can lead to great achievements on the international stage. We are putting Belgian water polo back on the world map!
The Belgian water polo family can be proud. Today is a day that will be remembered for a long time to come.
