Roos Vanotterdijk shines at ECU23 & Camille Henveaux reaches World Championship qualifying standard!

Belgium participated in the ECU23 swimming championships (2nd edition) for the first time with a selection of seven athletes.

From 26 to 28 June 2025, we were able to see the best swimmers in Europe aged 19 to 22 in Samorin (Slovakia).

This was a great opportunity for all swimmers who want to make the step up from junior to senior level.

Roos Vanotterdijk showed her best side throughout the three days and took home no fewer than five medals: three gold and two silver, including a magnificent Belgian record in the 50m butterfly in a new time of 25.63 (previous record held by our Olympian Kimberly Buys).

Camille Henveaux did not disappoint and, at the very last moment she could qualify for the World Championships in Singapore, she effectively secured the qualifying time in a fantastic time of 4.09.87! This was a big personal best and a 4th place at these European Championships for her.

We also saw good performances from Noah Verreth & Zinke Delcommune, who both swam in the finals of the 100m backstroke (Noah 7th) and the 200m breaststroke (Zinke 6th) respectively.

Fleur Verdonck had a less successful tournament, but she can obviously take this experience with her and come back stronger next season.

Unfortunately, Alisée Pisane and Grace Palmer had to withdraw due to illness. We wish them a speedy recovery.

We are all looking forward to the next tournament: the European Junior Championships in Samorin. We are keeping our fingers crossed for our 13 junior swimmers there, and Team Belswim is behind them!
