Stunning performances at the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Otopeni

Last week, the European Short Course Swimming Championships took place in Otopeni (Bucharest) from 5 December to 10 December 2023.

We are proud of the Belgian team's performance, as they brought home two bronze medals and three Belgian records and 1 Belgian junior record were swum.

The team (9 swimmers) managed to contest 3 semi-finals and also 6 finals!

Congratulations to Lucas Henveaux on his bronze medal on the 400m freestyle in a new top time of 3.37.91!

Valentine Dumont also swam her first medal at a European Championships, finishing 3rd on the 400 freestyle in a nice time of 4.00.84. She also managed to reach the final of the 200 freestyle, but since this was on the same day of the final of the 400 freestyle, she made the choice to resolutely go for the 400. Which was an excellent choice for her! Congratulations Valentine!

Alisée Pisane swam the still fresh Belgian record off the tables of Lucie Hanquet in the 1500 freestyle, new time 15.55.33 and finished 4th. In this same final, Lucie Hanquet finished in 7th place.

Sarah Dumont got to swim the final on the 800 freestyle and again managed to swim a Belgian youth record in a time of 8.29.89 and finished 5th! Grace Palmer finished in 8th place in this final.

We also saw great performances from Zinke Delcommune, Camille Henveaux & Lotte Vanhauwaert during their first European Short Course Championships!

On to 2024!
